Panchang TodayFree Panchang & Tithi calculator
Panchang is the traditional Hindu calendar for a given day and place: Tithi (lunar day), Nakshatra (lunar mansion), Yoga, Karana, weekday, and inauspicious time windows such as Rahu Kaal. Pick a place and calendar date below to see the Panchang for that location.
What is Panchang?
Panchang (Sanskrit: पञ्चाङ्ग, “five limbs”) is the traditional Hindu almanac. For a given date and geographic location it lists the five key lunar-solar attributes — Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana, and Vāra (weekday) — together with derived timings such as Rahu Kaal. Panchang is used for muhurta (auspicious timing), festivals, and understanding the quality of a moment in Jyotiṣa.
Why place and date matter
Panchang elements change through the day. The same civil date at different longitudes can fall on different Tithis or Nakshatras near boundaries. Choosing an accurate place sets latitude, longitude, and timezone; the calculator uses a standard reference time on that date for the engine query.
The five limbs at a glance
- Tithi — Lunar day — Shukla (bright fortnight) or Krishna (dark), numbered 1–15.
- Nakshatra — The Moon’s sidereal mansion (one of 27), with a planetary lord.
- Yoga — A combined Sun–Moon angle quality; 27 Yogas cycle through the day.
- Karana — Half of a Tithi — 11 Karanas repeat in sequence through the month.
- Vāra (weekday) — Each weekday is associated with a planet and colors general tone; we show the weekday name returned for your selected date and place.
Rahu Kaal, Gulika, and Yamakanta
These are segments of the local civil day derived from sunrise divisions (traditions vary slightly). They are commonly avoided for starting important activities. Our calculator surfaces the string ranges returned by the engine for your selected date and location.
