What is Indu Lagna?
Indu Lagna (sometimes written Indu Lagna) is a derived sensitive point used in Jyotish when studying prosperity, resources, and the overall tone of financial karma. It is not the same as your normal ascendant (Lagna) or Moon sign; it is computed from both, together with the ninth-house lords from Lagna and from the Moon, using traditional Kala (time-point) values assigned to each planet.
In practice, astrologers use Indu Lagna as one lens among many—alongside the second and eleventh houses, Jupiter and Venus, divisional charts, and dashas—to understand how wealth and comfort may manifest over a lifetime.
How Indu Lagna is derived (conceptually)
Ninth from Lagna and ninth from Moon
The calculation considers the sign of your ascendant and the sign of your Moon, finds the ninth sign counted from each of those starting points, and reads the planetary lords of those ninth signs. Each lord has a fixed Kala number (for example, classical texts assign different weights to Sun, Moon, Mars, and so on).
From total Kala to a result sign
Those Kala values are summed, reduced modulo twelve, and the result is counted forward from the Moon's sign to land on the Indu Lagna rashi. Our calculator follows that classical sequence on your sidereal D1 chart from the birth data you enter.
