Ask Vedanta · Failure
The Gita does not promise you will not fail. It removes failure's power to tell you what you are.
The thing you built the whole plan around has fallen. The body wants a prophecy or a pep talk. Guidance, not prediction, with a Sanskrit shloka for your situation. Free, no birth details.

The plan failed, and now it is writing your biography
The bhagavad gita on failure meets you on the floor of a plan that was supposed to hold the year. The exam. The round. The relationship timeline. The launch. You are not looking for a soft story. You are looking for a way to stand that does not require pretending the miss was secretly a win. Fear sits next to the I maker here: fear that getting up means being hit again, and the I maker that already turned the miss into a sentence about who you are.
Bhaya is not caution. Caution can still choose the next step. Fear freezes the limbs while the mind rehearses every future collapse as if rehearsal were protection. Ahamkara adds the personal stamp: this outcome is not an event in a life; it is proof about the person. Together they make getting up feel like a second humiliation waiting to happen.
Notice what you ask for in that freeze. A guarantee that the next attempt cannot miss. An interpretation that the miss meant something noble. A villain to blame so you do not have to feel the equal weight of gain and loss. The text refuses the guarantee and the costume. It keeps the loss real and strips its authority to define you, then tells you to join the work again with both hands open.

Bhaya + Ahamkara
Fear that freezes the next step, joined to the I maker that turns a miss into a verdict on who you are.
The pair shows up as a body that will not start and a story that will not stop. You refresh the same rejection email. You draft comeback speeches you will not send. You compare yourself to people whose wins you cannot see the weather inside. You call it realism. Realism would include that Krishna does not promise Arjuna a win before asking him to fight. The tell is the bargain: I will get up only when failure can no longer touch me. That bargain is how fear keeps the floor. You may also bargain for a villain so the miss feels cleaner. Villains can be real and still not restore your legs. The equal eye does not need a villain. It needs the next hour returned to the work without a rewritten self.
The thing I built my whole plan around has failed. How am I supposed to get up again?

The verse for this
sukhaduḥkhe same kṛtvā lābhālābhau jayājayau| tato yuddhāya yujyasva naivaṃ pāpam avāpsyasi||2.38||
Holding pleasure and pain, gain and loss, victory and defeat as the same, then engage in the battle. In this way you do not take on the binding fault.
People search bhagavad gita quotes on failure hoping for a line that softens the miss or promises the next round. This verse does something colder and more useful. Pleasure and pain, gain and loss, victory and defeat, hold them alike, then join the fight. Krishna does not tell Arjuna he will win. He removes the private law that says only a win can authorise movement. Bhagavad gita on success and failure, read here, is not a motivational poster. It is an equal eye, then a step. The equal eye does not mean you enjoy the loss. It means the loss does not get to draft your name. Fear wanted a shield. The I maker wanted a rewritten identity. The instruction ignores both requests and points at the work still in front of you. The body may still want a prophecy. Prophecy would let you wait. Waiting is how fear keeps the floor looking like wisdom. The instruction is smaller than a comeback story: hold the pairs, then engage a unit of work you can finish without a new identity speech. Pep talk failed you because it asked for a mood you did not have. An instruction does not wait for mood. Equal eye, then step forward. Not a promise, an instruction.

What an answer looks like
An example, not a real conversation.
“I failed the entrance exam I structured my whole year around. Everyone keeps saying try again. I cannot even open the syllabus. What is wrong with me?”
Nothing mystical is wrong. Fear is protecting you from a second hit, and the I maker has already filed the first hit as a character verdict. Opening the syllabus would risk both. That is why the body refuses.
Bhagavad Gita 2.38 does not ask you to feel inspired. It asks you to hold the loss without letting it become the only truth about you, then to engage. Engaging tomorrow might be one chapter, not a new five year plan. The size can be small. The equal eye is the point.
Write the sentence the miss is using as your name. Then write the work that is still yours this week even while that sentence is loud. Do the second without arguing the first into silence first. Silence is not required. Movement is.
The next honest step is a timed hour with the material, not a speech about resilience. Pep talk is what you have been refusing because it felt fake. An instruction is narrower. Open the page. Stay for the hour. Close it. That is forward.

The usual reading, and the text
A common reading treats failure as a test you pass by staying positive, or as a secret blessing you must immediately rebrand. Bhagavad gita on fear of failure gets reduced to cheerleading.
What 2.38 offers is neither cheer nor rebrand. Hold the pairs as equal, then engage. A bhagavad gita shlok on failure used as a promise that pain will taste different has left the verse. The verse keeps pain real and strips its right to authorise or cancel the next action.

What the other verses add
Do not refuse the work
karmaṇyevādhikāras te mā phaleṣu kadācana| mā karmaphalahetur bhūr mā te saṅgo 'stvakarmaṇi||2.47||
Your claim is on the action, not on its fruit. Do not make the fruit your motive, and do not slide into refusing the work.
After a miss, refusing the work can feel like wisdom. The verse names that slide and blocks it. Your claim remains on the action. The fruit that just disappointed you was never the rightful owner of your next hour. If you treat the missed fruit as proof that careful effort was naive, you have handed the scoreboard the right to cancel craft. The verse refuses that handover.
The miss had more authors than you
prakṛteḥ kriyamāṇāni guṇaiḥ karmāṇi sarvaśaḥ| ahaṅkāravimūḍhātmā kartā'ham iti manyate||3.27||
Actions are carried out everywhere by the qualities of nature. The person confused by the I maker thinks, I am the doer.
Failure inflates authorship in the painful direction. This line shrinks it back to scale. Nature, timing, other hands, the field was shared. You still have a piece. The piece is not the whole mirror. Use it when shame insists you alone authored every condition. Naming shared conditions is not an excuse. It is scale.
What this page will not do
- It will not rebrand your miss as a hidden victory you must celebrate.
- It will not hand you a guarantee that the next attempt cannot fall.
- It will not treat frozen limbs as proof that you are finished.
- It will not replace the hard hour of work with a speech about resilience.
- It will not tell you which month the scoreboard turns.

Questions
What does bhagavad gita say about failure?+
In Bhagavad Gita 2.38 it tells you to hold pleasure and pain, gain and loss, victory and defeat alike, then engage in the work. It does not deny the loss. It denies the loss the right to decide whether you may move. That stance is why the line survives a real collapse without turning into a slogan about always rising cheerful.
Does Krishna promise Arjuna victory?+
Not in this instruction. He asks for an equal eye and then for engagement. That is why the line is useful after a real miss. You are not being sold a forecast. You are being given a way to stand without waiting for certainty.
What does bhagavad gita say about success and failure?+
Positive thinking often rebrands the miss or demands a better mood before action. This verse keeps the pairs visible and still orders the step. Mood can lag. The instruction does not wait for mood.
Bhagavad gita on fear of failure+
Fear wants a guarantee. The text does not offer one. It offers a smaller unit of engagement and a refusal to let the last miss own your name. Bhagavad gita on fear of failure, held this way, is about ending the bargain that you will only rise when you cannot be touched.
Where does ego enter a setback?+
When the miss becomes a verdict on who you are instead of an event in a shared field. Bhagavad Gita 3.27 shrinks that authorship. You still repair your piece. You stop confusing the piece with your whole worth.
